Horreos are common sights on the farms of Galicia. They are used to store potatoes, corn, and grains. Galicia has a wet Atlantic climate so the horreos are elevated to protect the crops from the damp ground. Also, it is hard for rodents to climb into them so they aren't as likely to eat the harvest. Horreos are traditionally made of stone, but some are made of brick and wood. I saw a lot of them along the Camino route.
