The Cabezudos are huge puppets that you see on festival days in Spain. Their first appearance for the Dia de Santiago was at 10 a.m. yesterday, Saturday, July 24. Everybody, especially the children, were excited to see them arrive.
Can you figure out what Cabezudo means? It comes from the word cabeza. A cabeza is a head so a cabezudo is a "big head".
It's built on a platform of wood that looks kind of like a card table. A person, usually a man, gets underneath the cabezudo and is covered by the clothing. The cabezudo walks and dances through the streets. It's fun to watch them dance. I thought that they'd fall over because they're so big.
