Today was the official WELCOME reception for the Spanish teachers who are studying at the University of Santiago de Compostela this summer. Various people spoke at the event to welcome us: the mayor of Santiago, the president of USC (Universidad de Santiago de Compostela),a well-known local author who writes about Galicia, a representative from the Embassy, and a few others. There are Spanish teachers here from Finland, New Zealand, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Morroco, Saudi Arabia, France,& lots of other countries. And, don't forget there is ONE teacher here from Maine!
Here's an article about the reception in today's paper, La Voz de Galicia.

The Paraninfo is a very special room used only for formal occasions, such as earning your PhD or for special meetings such as this. We were honored to be able to go into this hall. You can see a photo of me with Sra. Dana and the speakers are sitting up behind her.
I have a lot more to write about but have been super busy...
